I would greatly appreciate any comments on what should be done to improve both http://www.EclecticEnglish.com website and this board for the learners of English as a second language.
Mind you, that http://www.EclecticEnglish.com is currently under construction, so your comments may be implemented here very soon.
I would especially be grateful for any ideas from you on the following topics:
- What forums do you think should be created on this board?
- Any ideas for what kind of material or activities may be added to http://www.EclecticEnglish.com website.
- Any comments or ideas on how to make the existing content better.
- Or just any opinions about this site. Please, don't be rude.

Re: Your ideas are needed!
Hello, Nikita!
Personally speaking, I don't think it's a good idea to have so many forums. One forum is ought to be ample for discussions, at least for the initial period. Excess forums may distract users attention, don't you agree?
But the forum you have made seems quite convenient and rather powerful. I really like it!

Hello Sergey,
Nice to see you here. I agree with you that a big number of forums here would look distracting, but at the same time when you click on "ESL forum" link, and than you see something like one "ESL forum" link, it is not quite right either.
Furthermore, php board, which I am using, does have an index of forums & topics. Which means that if I place a link directly to the "ESL forum", the surfers still will be able to get to the index page, which would be a bit confusing.
Sorry for not completely agreeing with you. After all, it was your idea to add a discussion forum to http://www.eclecticenglish.com website. Let's wait and see.
Best regards,
Nikita Kovalyov

Hello, Nikita.
I don't want to impose on you, I'd just like to expound my point of view.
As I see it, somewhere at the http://eclecticenglish.com there should be made a link to the http://eclecticenglish.com/board/
so that the Board will offer 3 forums:
- Announcements
- ESL forum
- ESL Mailing List Archive
I am not a programmer, and I admit that there might be some difficulties in using php. Please, be lenient :)
I knew you would blame me :))

number of forums
Hi again!
I am just grateful for encouraging me. When I added my very first board to one of my very first ESL sites, it was a quite deserted place.
About the number of forums. Mea Culpa. But I don't feel I have a right to delete the forums when a few people (Huey and Maria) have posted something.
Now I have five links to all five ESL forums on http://www.eclecticenglish.com. Soon, as soon as Google indexes them, I will replace them with three links:
- Announcements
- ESL Forums
- ESL Mailing List Archive
And I think that it is a good idea to add a link to ESL Mailing List Archive to http://www.esl.com.ua website.

Hi, Nikita!
I am aware that you are working on a new design of your site. If you don't mind I would like to suggest you something that you might implement in your work.
Currently, new materials are denoted by "New", which gives visitors a clue of what have recently been added. Normally the main reason for visiting is to get to know what have been added. And a wish to get it in the shortest time is natural. But at present these marks ("New") could be found in any place on the page, which may make the search for new information a bit complicated.
The way that I use to find unread topics on forum is the link "View posts since last visit". The link allows me just in one sec get to know the news.
Summarizing I suggest that you add a link that would lead to the list of the latest updates on the site.

updated design
Hello Sergey!
I like your idea very much. I will also try to think how to implement it nicely.
The new design features "includes", and it is really neatly made. Unfortunately it has taken much longer than I anticipated.
Luckily, all the parts that I couldn't do myself are ready. It just needs a few home (homely) touches. Apart from the tweaking I have to alter the content, which is also taking some time.
Nevertheless I promise that on Monday at the latest a new content page will be uploaded.
I really look forward to your and everyone's feedback, but I doubt I will go into any drastic changes in the design in the nearest future.
Best regards,
Nikita Kovalyov
